& DC 7 year Anniversary
Detroit’s Origix & DC have dominated the Michigan Hip Hop scene since April 20th of 2002 on the air waves of Henry Ford Community Colleges Non-Commercial Radio station, 89.3 WHFR.FM. The Zone Radio Show has made it possible for independent and signed artist to expose their music to listeners who have no means to hear Detroit Hip Hop on the FM dial.
With the expansion of the internet in homes and on mobile devices, The Zone Radio has been ahead of the curve in broadcasting online, making it possible for people out of normal listening range to stream audio live with dedicated listeners around the world. Origix & DC have been involved in the music scene in many different ways over the last 15 years from being fans and artists to booking and promoting shows.
With great pride; The Zone Radio celebrates its 7 year anniversary, a platform they have built and networked from the ground up! This has been recognized by many fans of Hip Hop and media sources, winning them a 2007 MAEB (Michigan Association of Educational Broadcasters) award for Gold Microphone Air Check, Interview and Production Category’s as well as 2002 and 2003 Outstanding Support Awards by www.Detroitrap.com .
The Quest to spread music from the Midwest region is far from over. In December of 2007 Origix & DC launched www.2raw4fm.com, an outlet to broadcast online-pod cast’s and promote music from the region to expose music that can’t and will not be aired on the FM Airwaves. Origix says “We are doing everything in our power to take The Zone to the highest level, so we can play the music we believe in so much. If there are any stations willing to put us on larger airwaves they will not be disappointed with The Zone’s movement.”
