True story:* Back in the stone ages, I saw the Bosstones at Harpo's, thus cementing my eternal distaste for Harpo's. In the full swing of a typically happy, energetic Bosstones set—Dicky resplendent in his brand new plaid jammies, two-toners piling on to the stage—Harpo's cut the sound, leaving the band no choice but to walk off. We all stood stunned for a moment until Dicky came over the PA to announce something akin to "fuck this place, we love you, but we're outta here." We only stood for a moment more until we tore Harpo's to bits. Luckily for me, I was with a friend who was less susceptible to mob-mentality than I apparently turned out to be, and as soon as my pupils dilated and I reached for a chair, he grabbed me by my collar and dragged me out.
I'm sure this show is going to be much much better.
*Except for in this case, never believe anyone who starts a story "true story."
