CD Release: Downtown Brown - The Shelter Detroit - Sat 11/13

DOWNTOWN BROWN TO RELEASE 7th CD IN UNDER 10 YEARS ON DC-JAM RECORDS

CD RELEASE PARTY SAT NOV 13th at THE SHELTER St Andrews Hall Detroit

Culminating a weird mutant sound through rapid juxtapositions between rock, metal, punk, funk and experimental, the shape-shifting entity known as DOWNTOWN BROWN has forged a diverse sound that is as fully developed as well as it is broadly enjoyable.

DTB has hypnotized thousands throughout the country with their highly-entertaining live show, long pursuing a grassroots mission to unite the people of the world in an environment where "no man shall feel stupid for wearing a giant foam cowboy hat." Their quest has hammered on since 2001, with six independent albums and seven self-booked US tours under their belt that took them everywhere from THE VIPER ROOM in LA to THE KNITTING FACTORY in NYC.

DTB caught the ear of DC-JAM RECORDS president DARRON HEMANN in 2010, and promptly signed a deal with the label to release their seventh cd, "Grabbleton's Beach". DTB's signing subsequently made them label-mates with such legendary bands as FISHBONE, JFA and T.S.O.L. The album is to be released first in the band's hometown of DETROIT on SAT NOV 13th at THE SHELTER. "Grabbleton's Beach" will be the band's first fully-promoted international release, and will take the band all over the US, Europe and Japan in the months to follow.

"Grabbleton's Beach" is considered by its creators to be a creative landmark in the band's career. Clocking in at just under 70 minutes, the album is a 20 song rollercoaster ride of pure ridiculousness.

Despite the absurdity of its lyrical content, "Grabbleton's Beach" is a calculated and expertly executed musical force that covers multiple genres, creating a swirling landscape in the listener's brain.

Mastered by DEREK O'BRIEN of SOCIAL DISTORTION, the album is also a collaborative business card for many independent artists on the rise. Internet hip hop sensation WAX makes an appearance .as well as DETROIT-based performers HAYLEY JANE, MISTER and LISA VITALE, among others. Detroit's photo prodigy TREVER LONG also lends his talent to the album art, as well as artists from NYC and JAPAN.

"It's like a kid's album ...on CRACK," states founding member Neil Patterson. "It's also the most musically diverse, well-produced and significant piece of art I have ever had a hand in creating. Mr. Holland had his opus...we have this album."
