Re:View Contemporary’s special end-of-year group exhibit showcasing the works of 22 Detroit area artists opens on Saturday, December 4th, 2011 from 6PM until 11PM. This exhibit is designed to offer the community an opportunity to view, and collect, works by the group of artists the gallery represents (plus a couple of especially invited artists).
Re:View Contemporary is one of Detroit’s shining examples of both the powerful and diverse creative talent, but also the vision of this nearly 3 year old gallery, helmed by owner/Director, Simone DeSousa, who recently was named one of 10 “Detroit Visionaries” by Fortune magazine in August 2011, Re:View Contemporary has offered both the established and talented newcomer artist with a superior forum and environment to exhibit work in.
This year’s works observe a size limit of 16” x 16” x 16” and include painting, sculpture, and mixed media. Participating artists include Adam Shirley, Andy Kem, Asha Vida, Brad Richards, Cal Navin, Cedric Tai, Chris Lujan, Coley McLean, Dennis Hayes IV, Dolores Slowinski, Donn Angel Perez, Emily Duke, Gilda Snowden, Ian Swanson, Jaclyn Schanes, Lisa Rigstad, Mark Dancey, Marcia Freedman, Megan Heeres, Robert Sestok, Simone DeSousa, and Susan Amstutz.
Re:Collect celebrates a year of amazing and challenging exhibits which featured breakout shows by multi-media artist, Joe Namy and Metal smith sculptor, Adam Shirley as well as painter/performance artist’s Jaclyn Schanes’ news making and innovative event, “Show Pony” and Cedric Tai’s explorations of creative fate in “Accepting Accidents”.
