War Paint Tattoo Culture & The Armed Forces is a written and photographic documentation of military tattoos by Kyle Cassidy. At first it might seem to be a curious topic for someone who doesn't have any tattoos and has never been in the military. Kyle has great respect for those who serve in the military and understands the significance of these tattoos. These military tattoos document a highly personal and intense period of time.
Kyles explains ,"Tattoos can be very personal, coded messages, they can trumpet victory, but they can be a painful reminder of a wound that doesn't beak the skin, they can be catharsis, they can be memorial, they can be celebrations, and not too infrequently, they can be the punch line to a story that begins, " I got really drunk one night..." They're living bookmarks and the pages they reference and the way they reference them can be very complex."

This is definitely a book worth checking out for its interesting and moving imagery and  courageous life histories.
