Detroit Fanfare, the Detroit Comic Convention where the focus actually is on comics and comic artists is coming back to Dearborn this weekend at the Adoba Hotel (formally Hyatt Regency). While a past Fanfare may have been held in a larger venue, this year’s show promises more local and national comic book artists than in previous years and some very special media guests.
Brian O’Halloran, known as Dante from Kevin Smith’s Clerks is the keynote guest this year. While he’s made appearances in past years, it is always good to catch up with Brain as he’s a standup guy that loves spending time with comic fans. This year also brings some comic publishers to Fanfare with tables from Boom Studios, Action Lab and Tomorrow’s Publishers. There are also more events this year from 4 different costume contests, cartooning workshops and Q&A’s with several of the media and comic guests. The show is open to the public Friday, 6pm – 9pm, Saturday 10am – 7pm and Sunday 10am – 6pm with more parties and events on both Friday and Saturday evening. Detroit Fanfare is one of the events I look forward to each and every year so I hope I see you out there.
