Brooklyn electronic/disco group Holy Ghost! are coming to
Pontiac’s Crofoot Ballroom on Friday, November 8 with Midnight Magic and
Detroit’s own Erno The Inferno. The DFA signed duo of Alex Frankel and Nick
Millhiser have been making synthpop together as Holy Ghost! since 2007. Their
sophomore album, Dynamics, was
released in September and contains the singles “Dumb Disco Ideas” and “Okay.” Holy
Ghost! are known for their trend eschewing textured synthpop music, similar to
DFA heavyweights LCD Soundsystem. Holy Ghost! have played Detroit in the past
as openers for funketeers, Chromeo, and as part of 2011’s Identity Festival. On
stage, Holy Ghost! perform with a six member live band configuration and should
have The Crofoot moving all night long.

New York’s, nine member, post disco band, Midnight Magic,
serve as main support for this tour. Three of the band's members were previously
part of Hercules and Love Affair. Midnight Magic recently released their new
album Midnight Creepers. They seem to
draw inspiration from the throwback diva disco tracks of the 1970’s. During an
interview they described their music as “the secret love
children of Donna Summer and George Clinton serving up an orgasmic feast of
funk, disco, electro and soul", that description seems quite spot on. While their music is catchy, it’s tailor-made for the dance floor, not the radio. Most of their album tracks come in between the
5-6 minute mark. Midnight Magic have remixed tracks for Cut Copy, Azari &
Ill, Savoir Adore and Corrine and they’ve served as tour openers for Cut Copy
and LCD Soundsystem.
Check out their single “Beam Me Up” here.
Local hero Erno The Inferno will open the show with one of
his signature floor packing dj sets.
