CALL FOR ENTRIES Maker Faire Detroit begins March 18
Beginning on March 18th, 2010 applications will be accepted for participation in Maker Faire Detroit: Motor City to Maker City.
See http://www.makerfaire.com/ for information and applications as soon as they become available.
Organized by Make magazine, makezine.com and craftzine.com, Maker Faire is a newfangled fair that brings together science, art, craft and engineering plus music in a fun, energized, and exciting public forum.
Motor City to Maker City, meet the Makers! 200+ exhibiting makers, demonstrations & hands-on workshops
A two-day, family-friendly event that celebrates arts, crafts, engineering, food, music, science and technology projects and the Do-It-Yourself (DIY) mindset. It’s for creative, resourceful people who like to tinker and love to make things. Experience it here, in the birthplace and showplace of one of the world’s most famous tinkerers, Henry Ford.
Maker Faire Mission: To inspire, inform, connect and entertain thousands of Makers and aspiring Makers of all ages and backgrounds through the public gathering of tech enthusiast, crafters, educators, tinkerers, hobbyists, science clubs, students, authors, and commercial exhibitors.
I'm pretty excited about this event and will continue to post reminders and updates as they come in. If you've wondered about what sorts of things go on at these events, take a look at a couple of videos from the original Maker Faire (Bay Area) which is still going strong.
