MCB turns it's Spotlight this month on artist Marianne Audrey Burrows: self-taught artist and part of the creative duo behind White Room Productions. She's one of thirteen artists being showcased in WRP's "Small Dark Worlds" opening on Saturday at the Motor City Movie House in the Russell .
Marianne considers herself a painter first and foremost but this girl doesn't shy away from other forms of creative expression. What she's working on for Small Dark Worlds, is an installation piece she calls "Destitution".
We were intrigued, and Marianne indulged.
"Small Dark Worlds" addresses the fears we all have but try to avoid in favor of happier, better lit microcosms in our mind. Each of the artists have been asked to introspect, and give some kind of shape to some of their fears...and then share it for the world to see.
"Destitution" is what Marianne chooses to focus on for her piece: part installation-art and part performance-art. Utter poverty. Deprivation. Lack, or absence. The fear of being broke and insignificant. Not able to feed oneself. Destitution.
Marianne's performance is scheduled to start at 9:30pm and without giving anything away, we promise you: you won't want to miss it!
