PJ's Birthday
w/The Sugarcoats, Kahlid Hanifi f/George Bedard, The Reelers
10pm

Dun dun dun....
PJ's a year older and celebrating in the finest fashion he knows how-- throwing a big ass rock'n'roll party! Headlining the night will be Woodbridge's prodigal sons, The Sugarcoats. The Sugarcoats are a kickass project of Corey Weedon and Todd McNulty from Lee Marvin Computer Arm. Original bassist and former Bad Indians member Neal Simms is BACK and better than ever. They've got that Woodbridge sound... it's a true commonwealth 'round them parts! Did you hear them on WDET's Detroit Today a few months ago? Good stuff. The Sugarcoats have been favorably compared to The Rolling Stones AND The MC5 and The Faces. HOW'S THAT FOR CREDENTIAL?! When at the top of their game, this is truly one of the best live bands in Detroit.

Khalid Hanifi is the hardest working Afghan in show biz. Hanifi has been writing and performing his songs since the early 1980s, with such bands as Map of the World (Atlantic Records 1989-90), Kiss Me Screaming, and Maypops. His first proper solo album, “Pamplemousse Presse,” produced by Khalid and Geoff Michael, was released in September 2008. Recently, his work has been featured in such places as the NBC show "Mercy," and the PRX radio documentary "Finding Our Bootstraps: Americans Deal With Recession."

Accompanying him will be Ann Arbor's rockabilly king, George Bedard.

Local group The Reelers is a locally-based three-piece with obvious 60s influences. Link Wray plays strong in their intros while the backend of the songs remain light and easy to do the indie kid toe-tap head-bob to. The Reelers open.
