MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND - Summer Camp Fest

Summer Camp Music Fstival
Want to escape from the world of adult responsibility this Memorial Day weekend? MCB is going to Summer Camp for incredible music and one helluva good time. MCB's veteran rock & jam photographer/correspondent Andrew Bender will be road tripping to Illinois for the 12th annual Summer Camp Music Festival at Three Sisters Park in Chillicothe, Illinois - WHY AREN'T YOU COMING??? Trust us - you'll be glad you did.

The festival kicks off on Thursday May 25 and goes through Sunday May 27 (still leaving you time to get home and relax on Monday!) and so many amazing musical acts, including headliners Jane's Addiction, along with electronic wunderkind Pretty Lights, Les Claypool of Primus, and many many more!

Whether your musical tastes tend more toward rock, blues, electronica, bluegrass, or psychedelic noise, you're sure to have an incredible time. And as if the music alone wasn't enough, Summer Camp features a field day and color wars where festival goers compete in traditional camp activities, but with a twist.

Need another reason to make the trip to Illinois? This year's Summer Camp also features Michigan's favorite jam, bluegrass, and roots acts Greensky Bluegrass, The Ragbirds, and UV Hippo in addition to acts like Common, Gogol Bordello, Yonder Mountain String Band, Gov't Mule, Galactic, and so many other incredible acts it's a music fan's paradise. Plus, late night acts rage through the wee hours of the night while glow stick-gripping college kids dance, sweat, and groove to hot acts with Primus’ bassist Les Claypool and the Dead Kenny G’s performing Friday, while new electro collective Gigantic Underground Conspiracy - featuring members of Big Gigantic and Disco Biscuits offshoot Conspirator – melt faces in the barn on Saturday night. Pretty Lights will close out Summer Camp’s most intimate festivities with a performance on Sunday’s late-night stage. Tickets to the late-night shows are separate from general admission and are available at http://summercampfestival.com/tickets/late-nights/.

Summer Camp’s four different levels of VIP experience each provide amenities and activities not available in the general campground. Roughing it is a lot easier at Summer Camp with air conditioned bathrooms, VIP-only showers, closer parking and camping and a slew of festival posters, shirts, as well as special access to front of stages and to VIP only private bars. Four levels range from a basic upgrade all the way up to the higher ‘VIP Rockstar’ upgrade that includes tickets to all three late-night shows and passes equivalent to an artist pass with backstage access at all stages.Complete VIP Upgrade information is available at http://summercampfestival.com/tickets/vip/.

100 bands at 7 stages over the course of four days.
