Big Gigantic played a sold out show at Royal Oak Music Theatre last night to an amped up crowd eager to have a night of great music and brilliant lights. I arrived at the show too late to catch local DJ Satta Don Dada but I did experience Manic Focus who played an excellent set of dance with electronic beats.

Big Gigantic took the stage a little after 11pm. Unlike their stage set from last year that featured two immense columns they performed in, this year their drum set and sax/DJ gear were on the stage with the light show behind them. This didn't make their appearance any less impressive as their light show was a kaleidoscope of colored lights, strobes and images. When I spoke to the drummer, Jeremy Salken, last week he told me that Big Gigantic place a large importance on having a light show that will dazzle the crowd. Their set started with heavy use of the saxophone and worked its way into incorporating more electronic elements. By the end of the show hip hop beats and dubstep were pouring out the speakers as Big Gigantic shifted their set into high gear. The night ended with the crowd leaving sweaty, exhausted but most of all supremely satisfied.
Here's a slideshow of the wild and wonderful crowd:
