rockers Sponge will launch a national “Plowed Air Guitar” contest and
preview songs from their forthcoming CD at The Ritz on Saturday,
February 9, 2013. General admission tickets are $10 in advance ($15 day of show) and now available at The Ritz and online at showclix.com .
Doors are at 7 pm and ages 18+ are welcome to attend.

Opening the show are Glen Meadows, Digital Love, Rex Antenna and P-Funk.
The show marks the launch of Sponge’s national “Plowed Air Guitar Contest.” Starting
at The Ritz, 3-5 contestants will be chosen at each venue during
Sponge’s 2013 tour to compete LIVE on stage that night! The band will
judge the contest prior to taking the stage - and the winner will
receive an AUTOGRAPHED SPONGE PRIZE PACK and post show meet and greet
with the band. Winners from each tour date will also be entered in the
NATIONAL FINALS where one winner will be picked at the end of the tour
to JOIN SPONGE at a show in sunny LAS VEGAS, NEVADA! Registration is
free - but entry is first come/first serve. Registration for the contest
at THE RITZ will be between 8 pm - 9 pm with Sponge tour manager
Michael Pigeon. Air guitar slingers should be prepared to show off their imaginary axe wielding skills to Sponge’s hit song “”Plowed.”
Sponge will also be previewing tracks from their forthcoming CD “Stop the Bleeding” at The Ritz. The new disc drops in early March 2013 and features a twisted cover of the classic song “Time in the Bottle.”
With Hard Luck Candy Vodka drink specials and swag all night long, fans are invited to “Party ‘til They Drop” at The Ritz with Sponge on February 9!
Vinnie Dombroski took some time to speak with me over the phone today about their upcoming new CD release, touring and the air guitar contest coming up this week along with comments on his other projects.

Hailing
from Detroit, Sponge gained widespread notoriety with their debut album
"Rotting Piñata." Hits like "Plowed" and "Molly (16 Candles)" fueled
massive airplay on radio stations from coast to coast and were in heavy
rotation on MTV in the late 90's. After "Rotting Piñata" went Gold, the
band toured internationally, and followed up with the critically lauded
CD “Wax Ecstatic,” garnering additional hits "Wax Ecstatic" and "Have
You Seen Mary?”
