Americana rock band Andrew Leahey & The Homestead will be performing in Ann Arbor tomorrow night July 10th at Blind Pig! This is a homecoming show of sorts for Andrew as he spent four years living in Ann Arbor writing for AllMusic.com.
Andrew Leahey is in the unique position of approaching music from various angles. His first love and passion is performing with his band, but Andrew is also an accomplished music journalist, and above all a fan of great music. As a journalist, Andrew strives to promote new and upcoming artists by giving them a platform to get their music out into the world and and an opportunity to be
discovered. Andrew has written for SPIN, CMJ, and American Songwriter, among others, and had the opportunity to interview some of his idols, including Fleetwood Mac, Van Morrison, and the Beach Boys.
In his own career as a musician, Andrew Leahey & The Homestead draws inspiration from legendary musicians such as Tom Petty, Ryan Adams, and Steve Earle. The band’s “heartland rock n’ roll” sound exemplifies today’s Americana rock genre. Andrew Leahey & The Homestead’s most recent self-produced EP, Summer Sleeves, was mixed by engineer/producer David Barbe (Drive-By Truckers, Deerhunter, Jason Isbell, R.E.M.), and over the past few years, the band has shared the stage with artists like Sons of Bill, Andrew Combs, and Joe Fletcher.
