Saturday: International Obscura Day at Imagination Station

Saturday, April 9 · 5:00pm - 8:00pm
Imagination Station

Brought to you by the minds behind Detroit Loveland and Detroit Needs Robocop

Join us on Obscura Day as the Imagination Station arts space is transformed into a living Camera Obscura by local artist Gary Schwartz.

Located in the historic Corktown neighborhood, the Imagination Station is a developing creative campus housed on a large property including two blighted houses. On Obscura Day, we'll enjoy complimentary Hendrick's cocktails while our future digital artist residency and media lab building (Righty...) is turned into a camera obscura. You can walk right into the "photo" as time lapse photography captures Michigan Central Depot and Roosevelt Park - an interesting perspective to an iconic image on the verge of a new era. The other building (Lefty) features the new incarnation of "Salvaged Landscape" an architecture art from arson piece by Cate Newell. If you've seen this installation before, you will be surprised as we have "peeled away Salvaged Landscape's skin" revealing a new perspective. Live music TBA and drinks will round out an evening that will illuminate Detroit's cultural landscape.
