SHOW REVIEW: Manika / Olly Murs / One Direction

EDITOR NOTE:
MCB had 3 hours to find a young teenage girl to be a guest blogger and the loudest screamer to cover/review the sold out Manika / One Direction show at the Fox Theatre Detroit
She did a fantastic job and from we understand nearly scored an interview with the bands - better luck next time TG!

SHOW REVIEW: Manika / Olly Murs / One Direction
Fox Theatre Detroit
June 1st, 2012
By: Torrance Gee

On June 1st (seriously...the day of the show) I was asked to be a guest blogger for MOTORCITYBLOG and review a show at the Fox Theatre in Detroit. The streets were filled with people. They were everywhere - it was mob chaos. Everyone was there to see Manika, Olly Murs, and One Direction!

It was so exciting!

Our contact was with the band and he really took care of us meeting us at the box office and checking to see if we needed anything.
When we got to our seats, we were so close, we could see everything!
The music was already blaring out of the speakers, getting everyone pumped up for the show.

Manika opened up the night. When she came out, she was so full of energy and excitement. The crowd was screaming and jumping. Everyone was so energized. Manika was wearing the cutest outfit – a big, puffy tutu, full of colors and her long, brown hair was flying. The balcony was bouncing with all the kids jumping and singing her song. When she sang her new release, Good Girls, the crowd went wild! Everyone was singing. We were lucky enough to be seated next to a girl that was from Manika's distribution company; so we got a bunch of cool Manika stickers!

The second opening act was Olly Murs from the X-Factor. He was a surprise! We didn't know he was going to be there. He was full of energy and swag. All the girls were screaming and hollering. Some even threw hats and shirts on stage. He sang a handful of songs. Then he sang 'Heart Skips a Beat' and the girls next to us were crying. Literally, tears falling. Olly was fun to watch and was he was really involving the crowd.

When One Direction came out, my ears were ringing even though I had earplugs in. The crowd was so loud! Everyone was so excited to see the boys! They sang a couple of cover songs and then mixed in their own songs. They were so fun to watch! When they sang 'What makes you beautiful', the crowd roared! At one point we thought the upper level was going to come crashing down it was so crazy. Besides singing, they, also, were talking to the crowd and just being silly. We could see everything going on! Then they started taking questions VIA twitter. When Louis started "patting the dog, screw the lightbulb", the crowd was laughing so hard. Niall even took people's cameras from the pit and took pictures of the group! That was so cool! One Direction had all kinds of awesome videos going on behind them, showing the guys out doing things. Girls were throwing hats, shirts, and signs on stage. Some girls were even wearing bridal veils!

This was a great show. The Fox was an awesome venue. All the shows were unbelievable! In between acts, music was being played, so there was never a dull moment! The anticipation of the crowd helped fuel the show's excitement. I can't wait for all of them to come back 2013!
