The second annual Pig & Whiskey will descend upon downtown Ferndale for a full weekend of BBQ, whiskey sampling and outdoor entertainment! Metro Times is partnering with Woodward Avenue Brewers (WAB) to close East Troy Street for this summer event. After enjoying enormous success in 2011, the event has grown to two full days —Saturday, July 14th and Sunday, July 15th— plus a “Pre-Party” on Friday, July 13th.
Friday will kick-off the weekend's activities with the "Pre-Party", from 6:00 p.m. to midnight. Saturday hours are 11:00 a.m. to midnight and Sunday hours are 11:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. Rain or shine.
Pig & Whiskey will showcase 10 or more of Southeast Michigan’s best barbecue restaurants while highlighting unique and delicious pork, beef and barbecue dishes. Furthermore, there will be over 40 varieties of bourbon, scotch, and whiskey brands available to sample. There will also be a beer tent for those seeking an alternative to whiskey. Food and beverage will be available for cash purchase.
Pig & Whiskey will also feature an exciting line-up of entertainment! Friday acts include Ty Stone, Passalaqua, Jamaican Queens and American Mars. Saturday will include Reverend Payton and His Damn Band, Frontier Ruckus, Lord Scrummage, The Beggars, Dutch Pink and Jeecy and the Jungle. Sunday will conclude with Electric Six (at 8:45 PM, which tragically is the same time that George Clinton and Parliament Funkadelic perform at Concert of Colors), The Hard Lessons, Child Bite, K.I.D.S, Illy Mack and Dragon Wagon. Full schedule here.
New additions for 2012 include: a “Cocktail Corner” highlighting the finest whiskey cocktails from local bartenders, a General Store featuring BBQ-related items for sale by local vendors, an expanded game area with classic outdoor activities like washer toss.
