It has gathered a devoted cult following similar to that of The Rocky Horror Picture Show.
Friday June 11th @ 9:00 PM, the Eagle Theater, 15 S. Saginaw Pontiac, MI 48342 One Night Only. Tickets Available at www.thecrofoot.com $10 in Advance, $15 Day of show.
Hedwig and the Angry Inch tells the story of fourth-wall smashing East German rock 'n' roll goddess, Hedwig Schmidt. The outrageous and unexpectedly hilarious story is dazzlingly performed by Hedwig in the form of a rock gig/ stand-up comedy routine, backed by the hard-rocking band "The Angry Inch". Focusing upon Hedwig's lifelong search for the "origin of love" and her other half, the story's explosive finale explores the nature of identity in a superficial celebrity obsessed modern society. The music is steeped in the androgynous 1970’s glam rock era of David Bowie (who co-produced the Los Angeles production of the show), as well as the work of John Lennon and early punk godfathers Lou Reed and Iggy Pop.
The Circus Earth and Crofoot Ballroom production will star Scott Dambacher in the role of Hedwig.
Port Huron native, Scott Dambacher has played Berger in several sold out European tours of the American Tribal-Love Rock Musical HAIR, directed by co-author James Rado and staged by Joe Donovan. Scott has also starred in the Off-Broadway New York City and the original Detroit productions of Tony and Tina's Wedding where he played Michael Just, ex-boyfriend of the bride and Donny Dolce, the sultry lead vocalist of the wedding band. Scott was most recently seen as Hedwig in the critically acclaimed production at the Lexington Music Theatre and co-starred with Detroit performance artist Satori Circus in the rock musical Funy as Hell at the same venue. Scott is also the lead vocalist for the New York rock group the Stoned. www.facebook/thestoned www.myspace.com/thestonedrock
