Catl is a blues based trio hailing from Toronto, Ontario. Not your typical blues band by any means. There sound has been described as pure floor-stomping juke-joint blues. There influences range from Mississippi Delta blues musicians such as Fred McDowell, Charlie Patton and Son House.
The band did get off to a bit of a late start. The original opener for the show was Detroit’s own Danny Kroha, unfortunately Danny was held up at the border and was not able to make the show. Catl decided to open up their set by playing some of the songs that Danny would normally perform during his set. It became rather apparent early on that the trio was there to have fun and to make sure the crowd was up and moving. The band is currently on tour to support their latest release, “Soon This Will All Be Gone.” The band has released the title in vinyl and cd format. The vinyl still comes with a copy of the cd.
Check out their website for further tour dates and be sure to check them out. http://catl.bandcamp.com/
Catl FYI
In 2009 Catl won the Toronto Blues Society Talent Search, paving the way for them to play other festivals such as the South Side Shuffle, the Kitchener Blues Fest and a prime spot on an outdoor main-stage at the Montreal International Jazz Festival in 2011. Catl has appeared on CBC Radio's "Q" as the first "Friday Live"guests of 2011 and been featured on the cover of NOW magazine.
