Detroit Unplugged - Lager House Detroit - Fri Nov 7th 8pm

Friday, November 7th 2008
Presented by Five Three Dial Tone & WebVomit

Unplugged Detroit w/Blair (of Blair & the Boyfriends), Zach Curd (of the Pop Project), Dale & Jenna (of Four Hour Friends), John Nelson (of New Grenada & Copper Thieves), Matt & Alicia (of The Nice Device), Craig Brown (of The Mahonies & Terrible Twos)
8pm
Some of the best of Detroit doing what they do, but totally stripped down. A very no-pressure situation likely to breed some great covers, great stories, and interesting arrangements of their originals. Doors for this event are 8pm, and the music starts fairly early.
Seriously. It's free, don't ask questions.

"Hey MCB - I can't make the show tonight :(
who is playing tomorrow at PJLH ??"

Saturday November 8th 2008
Magic Shop w/The Sundresses, The Bird Dogs
10pm

You will be at this show, so don't even bother to try to fight it.

Magic Shop is good time in a bottle, led by Steve Nawara (formerly of the Detroit Cobras and Electric Six) and Jake Culkowski (also of The Sugarcoats, Detroit Cobras). The top two finishers in a Woodbridge/Corktown mock straw poll for 'Most Popular,' Dave Vaughn and Mark Craven round out the four-piece. The Sundresses are up from Cincinnati. If there were a punk band in the swing era of American music, The Sundresses would be that band. Formed in 2002 in Cincinnati as a bit of a joke, The Sundresses have been freaking out people ever since. In 2003 the band self-produced a full-length album, "The Only Tourist In Town," for their friends in the Ohio River Valley. To their surprise, not only did people at home want to hear, but lots of other people wanted a listen, too. The train keeps a-rollin' as they make their Detroit stop on a Midwest mini-tour. The Bird Dogs are full of haunting riffs and psychedelic noise reminiscent of Captain Beefheart. They aim to fulfill the admirable mission of bringing back Gun Club-esque scary rock.
