MCB was invited to attend the Media
Night Opening Performance of Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey® Presents
DRAGONS last night so we headed up to The Palace of Auburn Hills to check out
"The Greatest Show on Earth".
We made our way to our seats and
discovered that The All Access Power Up Pre-show Party was in full swing down
on the main floor allowing the kids to get up close and personal with the
circus performers who were juggling and signing autographs. There was a
bounce house and they even brought out one of the Ringling Bros. Asian
elephants that made a few actual paintings which were raffled off to the
crowd. As the pre-party drew to a close they
ushered everyone into their seats and amazingly transformed the main
floor from a kid’s fun house into a full blown circus midway in about
10 minutes!
The MCB youngsters were on the edge
of their seats as the lights drew down and the opening sequence
kicked off the show. Circus performers from the farthest reaches of
the earth had been assembled to showcase their astounding acts of bravery and
astonishing athleticism. It seemed like an endless stream of colorful
performers, amazing animals and menacing machines made their way out onto the
floor weaving in between each other in an astonishing intricate pattern of
highly coordinated chaos. Looking around
I could see Children of All Ages astonished at the spectacle before them.
As the show continued over the next
few hours we were treated to a diverse blend of circus acts one after
another. Some of our favorites were the Kung Fu Kings, Globe of Steel,
Shaolin Kung Fu Warriors, and the Troupe Alegria. But the
"taming of the big cats" stole the show with our group as
we utterly amazed with Alexander Lacey's work inside the cage surrounded
by a plethora of lions and tigers.
Toss in a bunch of majestic
elephants, a flying midget and a clown posse that tickled your ribs
and we ended up with a night the MCB yongsters will never forget.
