UPCOMING: Mardi Gras en Rouge 24 Feb

Gabriel Hall & Marche du Nain Rouge present
Masquerade Gala
Friday, February 24, 2017

Detroit’s upcoming Creole restaurant and legendary parade of city spirit have teamed up again for another Mardi Gras en Rouge masquerade gala, with music, food and live entertainment on Friday, Feb. 24, 2017.

Guests can sip on a hurricane, nibble some crawfish pie and dance to music from Gabriel Brass Band. Plus there will be performances from Lushes LaMoan, Caribbean Mardi Gras Productions, DJ Skeez and Comedian Emcee John Bell.

Mardi Gras en Rouge benefits both the Marche du Nain Rouge parade and Gabriel Hall, a restaurant and music venue coming to West Village. This year’s event will be 8 p.m., Feb. 24 at the Tangent Gallery/Hastings Street Ballroom, 715 E Milwaukee St, Detroit.

“Detroit is ready for a party, and this one is for a good cause, getting Gabriel Hall’s doors open so we can share our music and food with everyone,” says Dameon Gabriel, leader of Gabriel Brass Band and co-founder of Gabriel Hall.

“The Marche du Nain Rouge is all about celebration, and this party gets the Marche season started,” says Marche organizer Francis Grunow. “The benefit gala also will help us cover the many expenses of organizing the annual parade.”

The party will be 8 p.m.-2 a.m. Friday, Feb. 24, 2017. Attendees will dress to impress with a splash of red, and wear Mardi Gras masks. Gabriel Hall’s executive chef Ederique Goudia, a Louisiana transplant, will be serving authentic, delicious New Orleans fare, and the bar will be stocked with Mardi Gras cocktails. There will also be a best of Detroit silent auction and live auction of a piece created on site by a local artist.

All tickets include admission and food. Cash bar. Tickets are $50 in advance, and $60 at the door. VIP is $100 and includes admission, food, two drink tickets, reserved seating, table service, and Mardi Gras swag bag. Advance tickets are available at www.mardigrasenrouge2017.eventbrite.com.

All proceeds will benefit Marche du Nain Rouge and Gabriel Hall. The parade takes place Sunday, March 26, 2017, and will bring thousands of people to Midtown. Gabriel Hall is planned to open in West Village and will host live music. Owner Dameon Gabriel also runs Gabriel Music Society, a nonprofit that provides music outreach to local youth.
