Vans Warped Tour 2012 Review

Vans Warped 2012
Vans Warped Tour rolled into The Palace of Auburn Hills with a roar. The blazing sun and relentless heat did not stop thousands of fans from taking part in this huge festival that had so much to offer. Fortunately fans were able to take some refuge by sitting inside The Palace or they could cool off by wading through a massive sprinkler system. Which probably saved countless fans from suffering from sun stroke and heat exhaustion. The Vans Warped Tour plays host to almost 80 bands on various stages as well as an acoustic tent. Some of the bands that I had the privilege of checking out: Miss May I, Motionless in White, Stepdad, Patent Pending, Dead Sara, Bless The Fall, Cobalt and the Hired Guns, Australia's Tonight Alive and Detroit's own Kaleido. The best part of the entire event for me was being introduced to so many amazing bands from all over the world. Sadly, it was almost impossible to every band there. Every once in a while a voice or band would catch my attention and I would have to follow the sound and check them out. Thus was the case with Kaleido and Dead Sara. Two bands that I had never listened to, but i can honestly say that I can truly consider myself to be a fan of. The Vans Warped Tour is a must on your concert festival to do list.

Besides the music there were many noteworthy exhibits and organizations that deserve as much attention as the music and artists. Here are some of their links that you need to check out:

To Write Love on Her Arms  http://www.twloha.com/
MISSION STATEMENT:To Write Love on Her Arms is a non-profit movement dedicated to presenting hope and finding help for people struggling with depression, addiction, self-injury and suicide.  TWLOHA exists to encourage, inform, inspire and also to invest directly into treatment and recovery.

I had the opportunity to have a quick chat with Jason from the organization. We discussed the fact that the hardest part to deal with is the stigmatism that goes along with any addiction/ depression and suicide. Approximately 121 million people suffer from depression worldwide. Please visit the site and give them the recognition they deserve.

Keep a Breast Foundation   http://www.keep-a-breast.org/
The Keep A Breast Foundation™ is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization. Our mission is to help eradicate breast cancer by exposing young people to methods of prevention, early detection and support. Through art events, educational programs and fundraising efforts, we seek to increase breast cancer awareness among young people so they are better equipped to make choices and develop habits that will benefit their long-term health and well-being.
