New Street FestivALE Celebrates Christmas Beers
West Troy in Ferndale to Feature live Music, Rare Craft Beers, Whole Roast Beasts, Heated tents and Circus Performers (Ferndale) A new street celebration debuts in downtown Ferndale Saturday Nov. 23 with a celebration of hundreds of Michigan and European Craft beers, holiday food, live music, and other entertainment treats on West Troy Street in downtown Ferndale.
The 12-hour indoor and outdoor party is organized by One Eyed Betty’s in conjunction with the
Ferndale DDA’s Holiday Hoof Obstacle Course Fun Run. A giant heated tent takes over the parking lot west of One-Eyed Betty’s and festivities will range all down Troy Street to Allen St. Inside the tent
will be the music stage with beer-garden style seating. The street will be lined with bonfires, heaters and street/circus performers.
FestivALE is a holiday celebration highlighting the release of special Christmas Beers, with Michigan brewery representation including Bell’s Brewery, Dark Horse Brewing Company, Short’s Brewing Company & Arbor Brewing Company. Food stations include “Roast Beasts” such as whole roast pig, lamb, or goat, a giant Tartiflette and table-long Apple Strudels. The event features some of the area's best Folk & Americana bands such as The Ragbirds, CraneWives, Ryan Diallah & the Miracle Men, The Northern Skies, Appleseed Collective, MistyLyn & the Big Beautiful and Oak Bones.
The “Christmas Beer Booth” will be sure to delight with it’s rare and unusual line-up, served by Santa himself. These limited, small kegs will be tapped on a scheduled, first-come-first-serve basis, leading up to the highly sought after St. Bernardus Christmas Ale and Van Eecke’s Christmas Leroy. Brouwerij Van Eecke in the town of Popperinge, Belgium is family brewery that traces its origins to 1629 and brings us Christmas Leroy. This 7.5% alcohol by volume holiday treat exudes flavors of caramel and nuttiness from a centuries old malt build and has only been served in the State of Michigan one other time. Rarely exported, FestivALE presents this old world brewing meets holiday celebration in Michigan.
Inside One-Eyed Betty’s, Short’s Brewing Company is taking over all of the taps, and the restaurant will transform into a “free pinball” hall with over 30 machines.
FestivALE begins at noon on November 23rd. The entrance is located on West Troy near One-Eyed Betty’s. Live music act ends at 11pm and the street party ends at midnight.
