Wild At Heart - news and fun in July
Wild At Heart
Just sitting around having fun and thinking about life in general. It has been an exciting news month so far with everything from Japan winning the World Cup so soon after the disasters going on, to the death of Bin Laden, the posturing of both parties as the debt crisis in this country explodes, the chatter about Caylee’s Law and the downfall of Murdoch’s paper in England and the fallout from that. With all that, I have been enjoying a decent summer schedule where I have:
Hung out with Vegas style showgirls:
Looked for a new car:
Got to see the legendary Blue Angels at a street festival:
And fly one of their planes:
(JUST KIDDING)
Watch people with way more dexterity than I ever had:
And catch some nice local music with the Coupe De Villes:
As well as Grammy Award winning Spanish Harlem Orchestra:
And took part in a “Get Motivated” seminar which basically you sit around and listen to famous talk about their life such as Steve Forbes talk about the current economic climate and starting his business:
Erin Brockovich talking about how important motivation was to keeping her fight against Pacific Gas going:
Or General Stanley McChrystal talking about his tenure in the military:
Of course, between the big names where bits of info commercials by guys hawking their seminars and CD’s to help us invest, etc (which explains why it was only $1.95 for a ticket), but I wanted to see people like Bill Cosby pander to the audience and tell a few funny stories:
Steelers Quarterback and NFL analyst Terry Bradshaw act like a goofball and tell motivational speeches like how he was in Hawaii but came to Rochester because he needed the $15,000 speaking fee unlike Brady or Manning:
Or hearing Colin Powell speak on what’s going on in the White House:
Or best of all hearing Rudy Giuliani talk about the efforts to raise the moral of NYC after the events of 9/11:
And we got to hear a few songs by gospel singer Marvin Winans Jr:
As long as you avoid the temptation to buy anything, you get out all right if you can just find parking. If you are weak willed like a lot of people at the event, stay away but if you really want to hear some cool people speak, you might want to check one of these events out. I don’t see Detroit on their schedule yet, but who knows.
Anyway, it has been an interesting month I still haven’t posted Lou Gramm or my Ribfest concert photos yet (with Rev Peyton’s Big Damn Band and Felice Brothers to name a few) but enjoy this in the meantime. I’ll post something Thursday and look for a potential Toxic Airbourne Event interview. Thanks for paying attention in this busy month. Now go outside and get some sun!!
