This Friday there will be hundreds of girls at the Fox Theatre cheering and screaming for the new teen boy band sensation One Direction. However, there is one girl that won't be cheering, she will will be singing. Opening the show is Manika an 18-year-old pop phenom who was discovered by Frank DiLeo, Michael Jackson's long-time manager.
Manika's music is a punchy pop that comes from her being inspired by singers like Avril Lavinge, Pink and Alanis Morrisette. Her music is edgier than you might expect with rock guitars and real hooks. Her two singles "Just Can't Let You Go" which features Young Money's Lil Twist and "Good Girls" are climbing the top 40 charts. She currently has an ep out on iTunes and is working on a full length with producers like Qura and Evan Bogart who have worked Beyonce, Rihnana and Jennifer Lopez among others. The tour with One Direction is just the beginning of things to come for Manika.
